WEEK 1: SELF-AWARENESS — “Who Am I?” 🌿 COURSE OVERVIEW (What This Week Is About) Self-awareness is the foundation of personal growth. Before we can build confidence, set goals, or create a peaceful life, we must first understand who we are. In this session, students will begin exploring their identity by reflecting on their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences. They will learn the difference between who they truly are and the labels or expectations placed on them by others. This week creates a safe space for honesty, reflection, and discovery. 🎯 LEARNING OBJECTIVES By the end of this session, students will: Define self-awareness in their own words Identify personal thoughts, behaviors, and emotions Recognize internal vs. external influences on identity Begin developing a clearer understanding of who they are 🧠 KEY CONCEPT Self-Awareness = Understanding your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and values 👉 “You can’t grow into who you’re meant to be if you don’t understand who you are right now.” 🧩 SESSION STRUCTURE 💬 PART 1: INTRO DISCUSSION (10–15 min) Facilitator Prompt: What does “Who am I?” mean to you? Do you think people truly know themselves? Why or why not? Teaching Point: Explain: Identity is shaped by: Experiences Environment Relationships But it’s also something we can discover and define for ourselves ✍🏽 PART 2: JOURNAL REFLECTION (Core Activity) Students will complete these prompts using their Peaceful Life Planner 📓 JOURNAL PROMPTS 🌼 Section 1: Self-Discovery What makes me happy? When do I feel most like myself? What activities bring me peace? 🌿 Section 2: Awareness of Patterns What thoughts or habits do I need to stay away from? What is one behavior I want to improve? What is my most toxic personality trait? 🌺 Section 3: Emotional Awareness What situations make me feel overwhelmed or stressed? How do I usually respond to challenges? 🌸 Section 4: Support System Who are the safe people I can talk to? What makes someone feel safe to me? 🌼 Section 5: Growth Reflection What is missing from my life right now? What is one thing I want to understand about myself? 👉 Encourage honesty: “This is your space. No one is judging you.” 💬 PART 3: GROUP DISCUSSION (Optional but Powerful) Ask: What did you learn about yourself today? Was anything surprising? 👉 Students can share voluntarily 🧠 PART 4: REVIEW & UNDERSTANDING 📌 REVIEW QUESTIONS What is self-awareness? Why is self-awareness important? What influences who we are? What is one new thing you learned about yourself? How can self-awareness help you make better decisions? ✨ PART 5: APPLICATION 💡 “Awareness in Action” Ask students: What is one thing you will pay more attention to this week? Your thoughts? Your reactions? Your habits? 👉 Write: “This week, I will become more aware of: ______” 💛 PART 6: CLOSING REFLECTION Final Prompt: “Who am I becoming?” Optional Closing Activity: One Word Check-In Each student shares one word that describes how they feel leaving the session 🌱 TAKE-HOME MESSAGE “Self-awareness is not about being perfect—it’s about being honest.”
